Private Pilot Add-On Course

This course is designed for pilots who already hold a FAA Pilot Certificate and wish to add a helicopter rating. Adding a helicopter rating can be an exciting challenge that will reinvigorate your enthusiasm for aviation. If you already hold a pilot certificate, you will have a significant advantage over a pilot starting from scratch. You will already have an understanding of airspace and air traffic procedures as well a general comfort level in the air. Your familiarity with aviation will allow for less distractions and more focus on developing the physical skills and maneuvers necessary to control the helicopter.

But don’t be fooled, flying a helicopter is a whole new ball game requiring a whole new skill set! We have trained 20,000 hour airline pilots who were amazed at the challenge of learning to fly a helicopter. If you find yourself getting bored with airplanes, consider adding a helicopter rating. You won’t be disappointed!

Below is an estimate for the Private Pilot Add-On Course in the Schweizer 300C, and is based on the minimum requirements as required by the FAA. Times may vary by individual.
