Mountain Training Course

Mountains are what we do! As our name suggests, mountain and high-altitude training are hallmarks of M1. The M1 Mountain Training Course takes advantage of our excellent geographic location in the Rocky Mountains, with some of the most challenging and rewarding flying in the Country. During this course you will be flying at altitudes between 5000' and 12,500' MSL, in some of the most spectacular mountains in North America. This course is conducted in either the Enstrom 480B light turbine helicopter, or the turbo-charged Enstrom 280FX piston helicopter. Both of these helicopters are exceptional mountain performers.

The Mountain Training Course is designed for students who wish to obtain the skills necessary to fly in high-density altitude and mountainous environments. Specific topics that will be covered in this course include effective power management, aircraft performance, mountain flight planning and navigation, mountain weather and wind conditions, pilot judgment, aeromedical factors, and basic survival planning. During this Course, the student will be flying at altitudes of up to 12,500’ or more in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Upon completion of this course the student will have the skills, decision-making ability, and comfort to successfully engage in high-altitude mountain flying operations, and high-density altitude flying at lower elevations.
