Certified Flight Instructor Course

Upon the successful completion of the Commercial Pilot Course, you will be eligible to become a Certified Flight Instructor, which is the most common first job in a helicopter pilot's career. The M1 Certified Flight Instructor Course is primarily a ground school course that is designed to provide professional-track pilots with the knowledge, comfort and skill base to effectively teach the profession of helicopter flying. Flight time during this course will prepare you to successfully pass your CFI check ride with an FAA examiner.

Among the topics included in this course are preparing appropriate lesson plans, in-flight analysis and correction of student errors, proper pre and post-flight student briefings, and flight instructor responsibilities. Your flight time will include advanced autorotations, in-flight verbal communication techniques, and flight exam preparation. The FAA requires a minimum of 15 hours in the category and class of aircraft that you will be testing in -- most of this time is typically accrued during your Commercial helicopter rating and is supplemented by the flight time in this course. At the end of this course you will be substantially prepared to pass your CFI checkride.
